RESERVE — A waterline relocation project, which will consist of relocating various water lines in multiple locations along Louisiana Highway 637 in Reserve, is underway and slated to be completed by July.

Locally, Louisiana Highway 637 is known as West 10th Street.

The St. John the Baptist Parish Utilities Department and Sub-terranean Construction LLC began the project last week.

It will accommodate roadway widening and drainage improvements in connection with La. Department of Transportation and Development’s Louisiana 637 Port of South Louisiana Connector Project.

“The Louisiana 637 Project is critical to improving safety and building capacity in Reserve, as this road is heavily traveled by residents, school buses and 18-wheelers,” Parish President Natalie Robottom said.

“We’ve worked cooperatively with Louisiana DOTD for years on this and other important projects and appreciate their investment in St. John the Baptist Parish.”

Parish officials said residents and businesses in the West 10th Street area can expect heavy equipment along the road, but road closures are not expected to be a factor at this time.

As the project progresses, communications will be sent to those who may be affected during construction.
