NORCO — Vandals have destroyed the lights at Norco Ball Field for the second time in six months.
The vandalism occurred in the evening hours Sept. 30 and resulted in the destruction of several lights at the field, located at 100 Fifth St. in Norco, parish officials said.
St. Charles Parish Risk Manager Monique Granier said the lights were likely shot out with a pellet gun, considering the poles reach heights of 45 to 50 feet.
In April, all the field lights were shot out, with the parish spending $6,000 to complete repairs in-house.
“Not only are these repairs costly, they are also hampering the efforts of the St. Charles Parish Recreation Department to provide programming — including baseball and softball games — in the Norco area,” St. Charles Parish Parks and Recreation Director Duane Foret said.
Anyone with information relating to the vandalism should call the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office at 985-783-6807.
