The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development announced Thursday the Des Allemands Bridge in St. Charles Parish was reopened to vehicular traffic this week following the completion of a shoreline protection project.

The bridge was in the open position — closed to vehicular traffic — during a project headed by St. John the Baptist Parish.

The project added 5,500 linear feet of shoreline protection at West Lac Des Allemands and reinforced the shoreline between Pleasure Bend and Pointe Aux Herbes.
