ST. AMANT 31, LUTCHER 28 – The game came with the hype of being broadcast on WWL 870, and it delivered. The Gators (3-1) stopped Lutcher (3-1) on the game’s final play to preserve a 3-point win.
Nathan Tyler rushed for two fourth quarter touchdowns to lead St. Amant, which trailed 21-17 in the final frame.
THIBODAUX 19, HAHNVILLE 16 — Undefeated Thibodaux (4-0) cemented itself as a factor in District 7-5A via a 19-16 victory at Hahnville.
HHS (3-1) played in triple overtime games in each of the past two weeks and nearly forced a third straight overtime contest, but Dalton Melancon’s potential game-tying 34-yard field goal was no good late in the fourth quarter. HHS rallied to score nine points in the final three minutes before that attempt.
Brandon Singleton and Rickey Preston each scored touchdowns for the Tigers, who played without starting quarterback Mike Neal, who is sidelined with a broken collarbone. It’s the second time in two seasons HHS has lost its starting quarterback to injury. Backup Austin Perrin tossed a 32-yard scoring pass to Singleton.
DESTREHAN 42, TERREBONNE 17 — Destrehan (4-0) wasted no time nailing down a District 7-5A victory, shaking off an early blocked field goal touchdown return to rumble away with the win. Malcolm Darensbourg scored two rushing touchdowns and Austin Dickerson scored on an interception return to help lead the Wildcats. Terrebonne dropped to 2-2.
