Savoie named to national PTA

PARADIS — C.H. “Sonny” Savoie of Paradis has been elected to the Board of Directors for National PTA, the largest volunteer child advocacy association in the nation.
“Sonny is a passionate advocate for children, and we are proud to have him on our Board of Directors,” said Otha Thornton, president of National PTA.
“His leadership, dedication and passion will be tremendous assets to National PTA, our members and our Board as we work together to support and take action for children and families across the country.”
As a member of the Board of Directors, Savoie will work in concert with the staff of National PTA to continue and build upon programs and priorities that benefit families nationwide and improve the lives and futures of our nation’s children.
He also will help ensure the execution of the association’s mission and strategic plan to speak for every child with one voice. Savoie will serve a two-year term.
The position is a volunteer role.
Savoie has been involved in education and making a difference for children for a large portion of his life. He currently serves the community as a member of the St. Charles Parish School Board.
He has been involved in PTA for a number of years and has served as president of Allemands, Paradis, RJ Vial and JB Martin School PTAs. Savoie continues to participate in PTA at the local level in support and advisory capacities.
Savoie serves on the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards, Paradis-Bayou Gauche-Des Allemands Museum Board, the St. Charles Parish Public Schools Foundation and St. Charles Parish Board of Election Supervisors.
