RESERVE — Von Julien hauled in five receptions for 197 yards and three touchdowns to lead the way for host Riverside Friday, as it moved to 2-0 via a 37-3 victory over visiting Loranger.

Julien scored twice and topped 100 yards in the first quarter of play alone, finding pay dirt first on a 62 yard pass from Jordan Loving on the second play from scrimmage, then again from 61 yards out.

Loving finished 11 for 19 with 205 yards, two touchdowns and an interception. Jared Butler completed his only pass of the night for a 55 yard touchdown — to Julien, for the receiver’s third scoring pass of the night.

Riverside coach Bill Stubbs was glad to move to 2-0, but wasn’t thrilled with other aspects of the win. Specifically, Stubbs felt the Rebels lost focus and let their intensity level ebb as the game went on; Riverside (2-0) scored just three offensive points over the second and third quarters after taking a quick 14-0 lead.

“I don’t think we played with passion throughout the game,” Stubbs said. “And that’s concerning. I feel like we’re a lot better than we played tonight, and we didn’t use this opportunity to improve and get better. We’ve only got so many chances to do that. We don’t play year-round.”

Jake Venus’ 40-yard interception return made it 21-3 and all but broke things open for Riverside with 1:39 left in the second quarter. Tyler Gauthier added a 34-yard field goal just before halftime to give RA a 24-3 lead.

After a scoreless third quarter, DeAndre Wilson scored on a four yard run to make it 31-3. Butler and Julien connected for a 55-yard score with 5:39 left to round out the scoring.

Joe Anderson logged six tackles, three for loss.  Herb McGee totaled 54 yards on four touches. The Rebels combined for 50 yards rushing.

“We played well enough to win,” Stubbs said. “We can fix the problems we had tonight. But as a coach, you want to see a more inspired effort.”

Loranger dropped to 1-1 with the loss.
