O’Neil “Neil” Martin passed away peacefully at Canon Hospice in Metairie on Aug. 7, 2014, at the age of 90.

He was a native of Belmont and a resident of LaPlace.

He is survived by his daughters, Charlotte Surmik Petersen (Michael) and Debbie Martin (Terry).

He is also survived by his grandchildren: Beth Surmik, and Mark Surmik (Tiffany); great-grandchildren: Ashley Milioto (Carl), Amber Englade, Brody Fountain, Colton Surmik, and great-great grandchildren: Peyton and Gaige Milioto.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Lee Vedros Martin; parents: Henry and Eloise Poche Martin; brother Gilmer Martin; and grandson, Robbie Englade.

The family would like to thank Dr. Baijnath and the staff of Canon Hospice of Jefferson. Also, a special thanks to Tommy St. Martin.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, Aug. 13 at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in LaPlace from 9 a.m. until noon followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at noon.

Burial will be in St. John Memorial Gardens in LaPlace.

Rose Lynn Funeral Services in Lutcher is in charge of the arrangements.
