Man shot outside apartment in Reserve

RESERVE — A shooting late Thursday has St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies asking for the public’s help identifying the people responsible.

At 10:02 p.m. Thursday, Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the 400 block of NW 3rd Street in Reserve for the report of a subject who was shot.

When deputies arrived, they found a 19-year-old LaPlace man sitting on the ground with a single gunshot wound to his back.

According to a release from the Sheriff’s Office, the victim was conscious and alert when found, and was taken to University Hospital for treatment.

“The victim told deputies that he had just walked out an apartment when he heard gunshots and felt something hit him in the back, causing him to fall to the ground,” the release stated. “He realized that he had been shot. He saw two male subjects running.”

The victim described one subject as having dreadlocks and wearing a dark color shirt, and he said the other subject was wearing a tank top.

Residents with information about this incident who call Crimestoppers do not have to testify in court and may qualify for a cash reward.
