LAPLACE — Girl Scouts in the River Parishes are holding three recruitment events from 10 a.m. to noon Sept. 6.

Girl Scout representatives will be at the St. Charles West Regional Library, 105 Lakewood Drive, Luling; the St. Charles East Regional Library at 160 West Campus Drive, Destrehan, and at Highway 51 Park, 2900 Highway 51 in LaPlace.

The recruitments provide an opportunity for parents to learn more about the Girl Scout Leadership Experience and to register their daughters in Girl Scouts, as well as for adults who are interested in volunteering with Girl Scouts.

The mission of Girl Scouting is to build girls of courage, confidence and character, who make the world a better place.

Membership is $15 per year for girls and adults. Some favorite areas of interest for girls and adults include camping, health and fitness, the arts, science and technology, travel, cookie-selling and more.

More information about the Girl Scout Leadership Experience is available at gsle.org.

The Girl Scout program levels are Girl Scout Daisies, kindergarten – 1st grade; Girl Scout Brownies, grades 2-3; Girl Scout Juniors, grades 4-5; Girl Scout Cadettes, grades 6-8; Girl Scout Seniors, grades 9-10; and Girl Scout Ambassadors, grades 11-12.

No girl is denied membership for financial reasons.
