RESERVE — The ninth annual St. John the Baptist Parish Veterans Luncheon will be held at 11 a.m. July 3 at the Louisiana Army National Guard Readiness Center located at 4120 W. Airline Highway in Reserve.
A video tribute to pay homage to St. John’s veterans and service members will be featured again this year during the luncheon. The video will also be played later that day during the televised broadcast of the Independence Day Fireworks Celebration.
Residents are asked to assist with the video by submitting photos of local veterans and service members in their military uniform.
Black and white or color photos will be accepted, but high-resolution digital files are preferred. Original photographs will also be accepted but will become the property of St. John Parish.
Please include the veteran’s name, rank and branch of service, as well as contact information and the name of the family member submitting the photo.
If a photo was submitted last year, it is not necessary to submit a new photo. Photos in military uniforms are requested.
The deadline for submitting photos is 4:30 p.m. June 24 to allow adequate time to complete the project.
Photos may be emailed to communications@sjbparish.com or mailed to the St. John Communication’s Department Attn: Veteran Tribute, 1801 W. Airline Highway, LaPlace, LA 70068.
The 13th Annual Independence Day Celebration and firework show will be held July 3 on the grounds of the St. Peter Catholic Church, 1550 Highway 44 in Reserve and the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 2361 Hwy 18 in Edgard at 6 p.m.
The celebration and live broadcast will begin at 6 p.m. with a fireworks display at 9 p.m.
The east and west bank events will be filmed and broadcast live on SJTV.
