Gaskin “Jimmy” Roussel, was born on Feb. 22, 1944, and passed away on Feb. 5, 2014, at the age of 69. He was a native of Paulina and a resident of Convent.
He is survived by sons: Troy Roussel (Darcie) and Shaun Roussel (Dana); daughters: Sheri Roussel (companion John Duples-sis) and Dru Hymel (Wayne “Boe”); grandchildren: Wayne, Wyatt and Kimberly Hymel; Brianna, Briar, Austin, Ava and Addleigh Roussel; and Ambrie Duplessis. He is also survived by a brother, Wayne Roussel; his aunts, Jeannette Dornier, Ruth Minvielle (J.T.), and Nancy Stein; as well as nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Elaine C. Roussel, his sister, Diane Kinler, mother, Vivian “Ket” St. Pierre, and father, Melvin “Teg” Roussel.
He was a retired deputy with the St. James Parish Sheriff’s Office after 25 years of service. He owned Jimmy’s place in Convent.
Visitation will be on Saturday, Feb. 8, 2014, at Rose Lynn Funeral Services, 1870 Cabanose Ave., Lutcher, from 8 a.m. until 10:30 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Convent at 11 a.m. Burial will follow immediately at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Paulina.
