NAPOLEONVILLE – Sen. Troy Brown spread cheer recently by delivering Thanksgiving Gift boxes to families in need throughout his district.
Brown donated boxes containing grocery items to make a complete Thanksgiving dinner to families in Ascension, Assumption, Iberville, Lafourche, St. Charles, St. James, St. John and West Baton Rouge parishes. During the drive Brown brought the boxes directly to the family’s door, often to the recipients’ great surprise. The deliveries were done over two days last weekend.
While the Thanksgiving gift box giveaway is part of Brown’s yearly holiday donation practice, for him the experience is fresh every time.
“We got a chance to meet some wonderful people,” he said. “Sometimes they were completely surprised. One of the most touching stop we made was to a couple’s house who both happened to be completely blind. We did not know this when we got their names. They both were very happy.”
