Oliver “Booster” Cooper, 83, a native and resident of St. James, died at his home at 5:35 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 29, 2013.
Visitation will be at Mount Calvary Baptist Church, St. James, on Friday, Sept. 6, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Visitation will continue at Hope International, Vacherie, on Saturday, Sept. 7, from 9:30 a.m. until religious service at 11 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Samuel Jones. Interment will follow in Mount Calvary B.C. Cemetery, St. James.
He is survived by seven daughters, Veronica Taylor, Betty (Nelson) Harris, Patricia White, Paula (Michael) Link, Stephanie Cooper and Alfrenetta and Melissa Cooper; five sons, Oliver Cooper Jr. (Yvette), Marshall Cooper Sr. (Derline), Clyde Cooper Sr. (Deborah), and John and Rory Cooper; three sisters, Annie Belle Williams, Florida Chatman and Rita Cooper; brothers, Clarence (Joyce) Cooper and Charles (Rose) Cooper and Wilfred Cooper; 37 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Sr. and Hester Miller Cooper; wife, Anna Belle Jones Cooper; daughter, Paulette Cooper; son, Tyrone Cooper; and two brothers, Curtis and Joseph Cooper.
