LAPLACE – A LaPlace woman who was wanted by the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office as a suspect in the recent shooting of a pregnant Gonzales woman reportedly turned herself in to the department on Monday.
According to the sheriff’s department, 27-year-old Tiffany Victor turned herself in to Ascension Parish authorities for the charges of accessory after the fact of attempted first-degree feticide and accessory after the fact of attempted second-degree murder. Victor was charged because of her alleged involvement of the shooting of Kenyia Houston, 25, of Gonzales.
On Wednesday, Aug. 14, the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office reported the shooting of Houston, who was eight-months pregnant at the time. Houston was leaving her residence at approximately 4:20 a.m. when the alleged shooter, Cowan Collins, approached her vehicle and fired several shots at her. Houston fled the scene in her vehicle attempting to save herself and her unborn baby but ended up wrecking her car at the intersection of Louisiana Highway 621 and Orleans Drive in Gonzales.
During the investigation, detectives learned that Victor is the
current girlfriend of Collins and had some involvement in the shooting. Victor was arrested and booked into the Ascension Parish Jail. She is currently awaiting bond. Detectives previously booked 27-year-old Cowan Collins, Houston’s ex-boyfriend, on charges of attempted second-degree murder, attempted first-degree feticide and illegal use of weapons.
Houston was transported to an area hospital where she had an emergency delivery and underwent surgery for her wounds. Houston and her baby are in stable condition.
