LAPLACE – Three LaPlace residents were arrested this week in connection to multiple Kenner-area car burglaries.
Jessie Bailey, 20, of 1516 Ellerslie Drive; Brianna Bolden, 18, and Clarence Scott, 20, of 205 Belle Terre Blvd. were arrested and charged with four counts of simple burglary each, in connection to burglaries committed in the 600 block of St. Julien, the 700 block of St. Julien and the 4200 block of Rhone Drive in Kenner.
The trio was arrested after an alert citizen contacted the Kenner Police Department, saying that they had observed a male subject burglarize a vehicle in the 700 block of St. Julien Drive and run toward Chateau Boulevard.
Responding officers located Bailey, Bolden and Scott fleeing the area in a black 2012 Ford Fusion. The vehicle was registered to Bailey’s father.
Bailey, Scott and Bolden reportedly admitted they had burglarized the unlocked cars in an interview with Kenner Police detectives. The suspects said the motive for the crimes was needing money. A laptop computer, global positioning system and iPod were stolen in the burglaries.
At the time of arrest, Bailey already was on probation, having pleaded guilty to simple burglary on June 27 concerning a March 12 vehicle burglary in which he allegedly stole a gun from an unlocked vehicle in the 5200 block of Wade Drive in Kenner. Bailey received a five-year sentence, which was suspended, and was placed on active probation until June 27, 2016. He was also charged with probation violations.
Chief Steve Caraway of the Kenner Police Department urges anyone with information concerning this incident to call the Kenner Police Department at 504-712-2222 or Crimestoppers at 504-822-1111. Detective Harold Pendergast is in charge of the investigation.
