Olga Ann Haik Porteous, a retired teacher, entered into eternal rest Aug. 15, 2013, at Ochsner-Baptist Hospital at age 72.
Olga Porteous is survived by her husband of 49 years, John Courtney Porteous III, mother of Courtney Ann Porteous Millet (Leandre) and Susan Carol Porteous Campbell (John) of LaPlace and grandmother of Leandre Michael Millet Jr., Jeffrey Porteous Millet, John Royce Campbell Jr. and Kelly Haik Campbell.
Near the end of her life Olga was surrounded by so many family and friends as she went through the pain of dialysis and other physical sufferings. God saw she was getting tired so he closed her weary eyes, took her hand and whispered “Olga, come with Me.” With tearful hearts we watched her fade away. Her generous heart of gold stopped beating, and her tired body came to a peaceful rest.
Olga joins her brother, Hilliard Michael Haik M.D., and sister, Carol Haik Eyrich, in eternal rest, along with her parents, the late Alex and Evelyn Haik of Reserve. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, teacher and friend and a longtime member of St. Peter Catholic Church.
A funeral Mass will be held Saturday, Aug. 17, 2013, at St. Peter Catholic Church, 1550 Louisiana Highway 44, Reserve, at noon. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. for the family. Open visitation will begin at 10 a.m. and last until noon at St. Peter Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. Peter Cemetery in Reserve. Arrangements are by Millet-Guidry Funeral Home.
