VACHERIE – The Dr. Martin Luther King Scholarship West Bank Committee awarded $500 scholarships to five high school students in St. James Parish.
The 2013 recipients of the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Scholarship are Jasmine Jones of St. James High School; Ariana Boudoin of St. James High School; Sami Falgoust, of E.D. White Catholic High School; Kelton Jessie of St. James High School; and Josef Bell of St. James High School.
A small reception was hosted by the committee at the First Baptist Church of Vacherie to honor the students and their parents.
The application and selection processes were administered by a screening committee composed of five community representatives from St. James Parish.
The purpose of the Dr. Martin Luther King Scholarship West
Bank Committee is to continue promoting the legacy and dream of Dr. King by “making a difference” in lives of all residents of St. James Parish.
