Gretna men charged in Reserve shooting

LAPLACE – Two Gretna men were arrested in connection with the July 24 shooting of a Reserve man.
Detectives arrested Deshennen Alexander, 22, and Oliver Young, 19, both of Gretna. Alexander was booked with two counts of attempted second degree murder. Oliver was booked with two counts of accessory after the fact to attempted second degree murder. Both suspects remain in jail, each with a $500,000 bond.
Deputies responded to the 1700 block of Creole Street in LaPlace on July 24 for the report of gunshots  heard in the area. As they arrived on the scene, they were advised that a 24-year-old Reserve man had arrived at the River Parishes Hospital emergency room with a gunshot wound to the chest area. The victim was transferred to a New Orleans area hospital for treatment and was listed in guarded condition at the time of the incident.
