River Parishes Hospital’s administrative team surprised Lizette Holt, LPN, case manager, during the hospital’s monthly recognition celebration by announcing her as the June Employee of the Month. Holt said she is very honored and proud to have been selected as an employee of the month. She received an award certificate, a check in the amount
of $100, will have her picture displayed on the Employees of Excellence wall in the main front entrance of the hospital, and will be a candidate for the hospital’s employee of the year.
Holt has been employed at River Parishes Hospital for a little more than a year. She is always ready and willing to help with any patient care need. She stays in close contact with hospital physicians to assure all discharge placement orders are received and processed in a timely manner. She is always available to speak to patients upon discharge to make sure they fully understand their discharge orders and to make sure they have a smooth transfer to a rehab facility or nursing home if necessary. Additionally, she strictly adheres to the hospital’s “no pass zone” by always stopping to check on patients while walking down the hall.
“I’ve been a nurse for 30 years,” said Holt. “I could never pass someone up if I see they need help.”
On a recent occasion, a patient was admitted to the Medical/Surgical Unit after surgery and was required to get out of bed with every meal. Holt went to patient’s room every day at mealtimes to assist the nursing staff in getting him out of bed safely.
“Lizette goes above and beyond her job duties,” said Xiomara Aguirre, a registered nurse on the Medical/Surgical Unit. “She is a great person to work with and deserves to be recognized as employee of the month.”
Holt said she is looking forward to her new venture as a physician support coordinator for the hospital’s new computerized physician order entry system. She was one of a few employees who were recently selected to travel to Tennessee to undergo training. She will then support physicians and employees through the process changes.
“Lizette is always willing to do whatever is asked of her,” said Vanessa Peters, chief nursing officer. “She often comes in early and stays late to make sure everything is ready for her patients. When asked, she happily agreed to take on the additional responsibility of becoming a CPOE trainer.”
Holt and her husband, Kevin, live in Vacherie. She has one son, Nicholas Louque, a stepdaughter, Danielle Holt and a stepson, Kenny Holt, who is married to Christy,
and two step grandchildren, Claire and Kaleb. She enjoys spending
time with her family as well as swimming, bicycling and making crafts.
