EDGARD – Shortly after 6:20 p.m. Tuesday evening, Louisiana State Police Troop C investigated a single vehicle ATV private property crash near Amp Circle in St. John the Baptist Parish where a 20-year-old Luling man died from his injuries after striking a tree.
The investigation revealed that Ronnie Brown of Luling was operating a 2013 Can-Am ATV near the trailer park on Amp Circle in St. John Parish. Brown exited the trailer park on the ATV onto a grassy area just south of the trailer park, where he struck a support pole to a utility pole. After striking the pole, the ATV rotated clockwise and struck a nearby tree. Brown, who was not wearing a helmet, was ejected from the ATV when it impacted the tree. Brown was transported to St. John Hospital where he died from his injuries sustained in the crash.
Further investigation revealed that the ATV that Brown was operating was stolen out of St. Charles Parish. The St. John Parish Sheriff’s Office Detectives are handling the stolen vehicle complaint.
Alcohol use is not suspected to be a factor in the crash, but routine toxicology tests are pending. This crash remains under investigation.
