Life depends on the choices we make

One of the greatest gifts God gives us is our freedom to choose. Our destiny will be determined by the choices we make. With the gift of choice, God’s plan is for no one to perish and for us to enjoy eternal happiness with Him in Heaven.
In Deuteronomy 30: 19, God advises us to make good choices as He says, “I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live.”
The Bible is full of stories of people who made both good and bad choices. In the Garden of Eden, Adam and Eve had everything until they made a bad choice of disobeying God and chose curses that have been handed down to all of us.
Judas made a bad decision and chose death.
One of my favorite characters in the Bible is the thief on the cross. I’m sure that most of his choices were bad, and that’s why he was put to death. He corrected all those past failures by choosing life as he turned to Jesus and said, “Remember me when You are with Your Father.” Jesus said, “Today you will be with Me in Paradise.” This proves that it’s never too late to choose life. It is that simple. Jesus is the Way the Truth, and the Life.
Everyone will reap what they sow. In my life, I’ve made some awful choices that caused me a lot of pain and hurt the ones I loved the most. Unlike the farmer, who after a poor harvest
has to wait until the next season for better results, God gives us an opportunity daily to correct our mistakes.
On the second Sunday of October in the year 1980, I chose life, and Jeanne and I have been blessed abundantly. Yes, I’ve made some bad choices since then, but I have the assurance of my salvation as I go the Cross. I have to admit that I worry about some of my family members, but I stand on Joshua 24:15, “…But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”
