St. John councilman arrested Saturday

LAPLACE – St. John the Baptist Parish District 2 Councilman Ranney Wilson was arrested on Saturday evening following a report of a family disturbance involving a gun.
The investigation revealed that Wilson had gotten into an argument with his 26-year-old son at Wilson’s residence. When his son exited the residence, Wilson retrieved a handgun from the house. The argument continued outside on the driveway, and Wilson fired the handgun several times into his son’s pickup truck, disabling the truck. The truck was parked and unoccupied. No one was injured during the altercation.
According to reports, Wilson, told arriving deputies that he had fired a gun and told them where the gun was located.
Wilson was arrested and booked with illegal use of a firearm and aggravated criminal damage to property. He was released on a $22,500 bond the following morning.
