Elvans Roland Keating, formerly of LaPlace passed away Friday, July 12, 2013, in Waco, Texas, following a lengthy illness. Roland was born Sept. 5, 1931, in LaPlace to Louisiana Madere and Elvans George Keating. He was self-employed as a building contractor in St. John Parish and Hewitt, Texas, for more than 40 years. He was a founding member of the LaPlace Lions Club, LaPlace Jaycees, Larayo and St. John Search and Rescue, as well as a former member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church. 
Roland leaves behind his daughters, Debra Ferguson (John) of Hammond, Karen Rylee (Matt) of Hammond, Angela Keating of LaPlace and Lori Suski (Nathan) of Ponchatoula; son Kevin Keating of LaPlace; stepson Randy Meyer (Stephanie) of Waco; 11 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Joyce Russell; and brothers, Gary Keating and Ronald Keating (Miriam), all of LaPlace.
He was preceded in death by his parents, infant son Glenn and brother Leroy Keating.
Visitation and services were held at Brandon G. Thompson Funeral Home in Ponchatoula on Monday, July 15, 2013. Interment followed in Bogue Chitto Cemetery in Mississippi.
