LAPLACE – LARAYO’s mile-long string of River Parish Swim League championships continues to grow.
The Barracudas officially clinched yet another outright league crown Monday via a 420.5-129.5 victory over Piranha Swim Team, finishing the regular season undefeated.
LARAYO (6-0) led 78-30 after the freestyle event and never looked back.
“It’s always something you strive for,” said LARAYO coach Michelle Jensen. “It’s always a big thing for our kids to come out and win it. I thought we started the season on a good note and kept on improving.
“I was really pleased with our performance (Monday),” said Jensen. “We had a lot of our best times. Some of our swimmers were also able to try some different things and maybe give us an idea of our options for the Invitational.”
Emily Schexnayder, Jacob Jensen, Maggie Trepagnier and Madison Weber highlighted the Barracuda efforts, each taking three first place wins.
Lily Weber, Owen Weber, Abby Schiff, Kaile Levatino, Kelsie Williams and Cody Schafer were each two-time winners, while Carson Weber, Joshua Jensen, Cameron Brady, Alex Schiff, Grace Schexnayder, Olivia Incamina, Ben Schiff, Francesca Puglia, Evan Brady, Zoe Zaidain, Kelly Campbell, Chelsea St. Martin and Meredith Keating rounded out the LARAYO victors with one event win each.
LARAYO will host the River Parish Swim League Invitational July 12-14, where the Barracudas will once again try to match their regular season crown with an invitational championship.
“We have a little gap there, but it’ll be here before we know it,” said Jensen. “We’re just trying to fine tune some things and fix any little things that may be wrong.”
