Stingrays earn key win

LAPLACE – Riverlands stepped up with a big win Thursday night, besting host Hill Heights 324-222 to move within a victory of clinching at least a runner-up finish in the River Parish Swim League.
The Stingrays (4-1) led 62-47 after the freestyle and 123-94 after the backstroke.
Riverlands gradually built its lead, winning each of the butterfly and breaststroke events before finishing strong in the relays, posting a 49-21 advantage in the freestyle relay to cap the night off.
Alli Badeaux, Thomas Chapman, Maddie Sympson and Grace Richoux each won three individual events to lead the way for Riverlands.
Briley Holley, Shae Waguespack, Jillian Badeaux, Lauren St. Martin and Jordan St. Pierre captured two events each while Jack Chapman, Alex Watkins, Alex Miller and Shana Breaux rounded out winners for Riverlands.
The Stingrays rounded out their swim season Monday at LaVacherie. Details will be in Saturday’s edition of L’Observateur.
