Locals on Lafourche levee board

LAPLACE –  Last week, Gov. Bobby Jindal announced the appointment of three Vacherie residents to the Board of Commissioners of the Lafourche Basin Levee District.
The appointees are as follows:
• John Boughton is the retired superintendent of the St. James Parish School Board and is a veteran of the United States Army. Boughton will be reappointed to serve as an at-large member, as required by statute.
• James “Pie” Jasmin is retired. Jasmin will serve as an at-large member, as required by statute.
• Whitney Jasmin Jr. is also retired from Noranda Aluminum. Jasmin will be appointed to serve as a representative of St. John the Baptist Parish, as required by statute.
The Board of Commissioners of Lafourche Basin Levee District is responsible for maintaining the integrity of the levees and maintaining the levee drainage system of the Lafourche Basin.
