LAPLACE — St. John United Way has wrapped its 2012-2013 fundraising campaign with more than $603,000 raised for the organization.
“These results represent an approximate 8 percent increase over the total fundraising pledged in 2011,” said St. John United Way Executive Director Trista Brazan. “We cannot thank the St. John community enough for the continued support shown to United Way.”
St. John United Way holds an annual fundraising campaign to develop resources that support more than 24 agencies and programs in St. John Parish targeting the areas of education, income and health. Last year, more than 10,000 St. John Parish residents were assisted through United Way funded programs.
This year’s fundraising campaign began on May 1 and will continue until
April 30, 2014.
Funds are raised through a variety of activities, including employee payroll deduction campaigns and special events.
The primary source of St. John United Way’s funding is employee payroll deduction campaigns held at businesses throughout St. John Parish. The top five local employee campaigns for the 2012 campaign were: Marathon, Cargill, Dupont, Nalco and the St. John Parish Sheriff’s Office.
