Arrest made in residential burglaries

LAPLACE – St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the 1900 block of North Sugar Ridge Drive in LaPlace for the report of a residential burglary in progress.
When deputies arrived at the residence, they detained a subject matching the description of the reported burglar. The perpetrator was identified as Malcolm Durio, 23, and arrested on an outstanding attachment.
Investigators executed a judicial court authorized search warrant at the perpetrator’s residence on South Sugar Ridge during the investigation of the burglary and recovered items from the perpetrator’s residence that were reported stolen from the North Sugar Ridge residential burglary.
Durio was booked with simple burglary of an inhabited dwelling, possession of stolen things, illegal possession of a stolen firearm, simple criminal damage to property and an attachment. His bond is $38,650.
