Accept Jesus and free yourself

This week, as we observe the crucifixion and death of Jesus, I’m amazed how many believers refuse to accept the free gift of salvation. They don’t understand that He did it all. He paid the price for every sin we ever committed. We don’t have to carry the burden of guilt for our past, regardless of how wicked it was.
The best example of what Jesus did at the cross was the attitude of the two thieves that each hung on a cross next to Him. One challenged Jesus by telling Him that if He claimed to be who He said He was, to ask His Father to rescue them and prove it.
The other thief said, “We are being punished for our crimes, but this man has done nothing.” He then asked Jesus to remember him after his death. Jesus answered, “Today you will be with Me in Paradise.” Notice, nowhere in the Scriptures did He say that he would have to go through a purging of
all his past sins for a period of
time before he is accepted by His Father.
The last words Jesus uttered before He died were, “It is finished.” That meant He did it all. All we have to do is accept His sacrifice and claim the victory through Christ Who did it all for us.
Why then are so many people who believe in the death and resurrection of Jesus still in bondage? The reason is simple. Many religious people refuse to be set free. They are kept in bondage to many religious laws and doctrines of various churches. They refuse the free gift of salvation that is offered to all who believe and receive what Jesus did at the Cross.
He paid it all. His last words, “It is finished,” were to set us free.
Of course, we’ve been given a choice to have faith and believe that what Jesus did was sufficient for our salvation. We either accept that or doubt that it was enough. The bottom line is that our decision will determine where we spend eternity – Heaven or Hell. No other options. It’s that simple!
Happy Resurrection!
