Violent weekend leaves 2 dead in St. John

LAPLACE – St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office is looking for information in connection to two shootings that happened in the LaPlace over the weekend.
St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the area of Carmichael Court in LaPlace on Friday because of reports of gun shots. When deputies arrived, they found an unresponsive male subject with gunshot wounds lying in the front seat of a car where he succumbed to his injuries. The victim was identified as Travalen Narcisse, 22.
On Sunday, deputies responded to the 1600 block of Jefferson Street in LaPlace because of reports of two subjects who were possibly shot and lying in the street. Upon arrival, one male subject was identified as an 18-year-old resident of Jefferson Street. He sustained a gunshot wound to the right thigh but was alert and responsive. He was transported to a New Orleans area hospital for treatment.
A second male subject who sustained a gunshot wound was breathing but unresponsive. He was transported to River Parish Hospital for treatment where he succumbed to his injuries. He was identified as Cornell Tuco, 25, of Yorktowne Drive in LaPlace. No other information was available as of press time Tuesday.
