HAHNVILLE — St. Charles Parish sheriff’s deputies arrested Lawrence J. Washington, 21, Jan. 17 at 11:50 p.m. in connection to a homicide that occurred in St. Rose on Jan. 11. His bond is set at $500,000 according to officials at the Nelson Coleman Correctional Center.
Captain Yoes, public information officer for the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office, said Washington was arrested for a warrant issued the day of his arrest. The subject allegedly withheld information about the St. Rose murder from officers. Washington was arrested and booked with both accessory after the fact to first degree murder and accessory after the fact to attempted murder.
Sheriff’s deputies responded to 644 Mockingbird Lane in St. Rose on Jan. 11 in response to a subject being shot. Upon their arrival, officers discovered a gold-colored Toyota Camry in the driveway with numerous bullet holes and an unresponsive Michael McCray in the driver’s seat. McCray sustained multiple gun shot wounds and was transported to St. Charles Hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Deputies learned that McCray and Reed were sitting in the vehicle parked at 644 Mockingbird Lane when three unknown black males approached the vehicle clad in all black clothing. One of the subjects produced a handgun and fired several rounds at the vehicle. McCray put the vehicle in reverse in an attempt to flee but sustained several gun shots wounds before getting away. The three unknown subjects fled the scene on foot.
