LAPLACE – As a cold front moves through the area, heavy rainfall from widespread showers and isolated thunderstorms are developing. Due to the recent heavy rainfall, the National Weather Service has issued a flash flood watch for St. John the Baptist Parish through Monday.
Residents are asked to assist in cleaning out catch basins and storm drains that may be filled or blocked as a result of previous rain events. Please avoid placing debris in ditches, drainage canals, and on the side of the road that may impede drainage or become projectiles. Residents should use caution when going outside. The St. John Parish Emergency Operations is monitoring the weather forecast for any changes.
Please monitor later forecasts as a flash flood warning could be issued. Stay tuned to local weather stations for weather updates and changes in the forecast.
