Run this weekend to benefit victims of Aug. 16 shootings

LAPLACE – The St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office will host the “Fallen 4 Run” this weekend to benefit the families of Brandon Nielson, Jeremy Triche, Jason Triche and Scott Boyington, the officers killed and injured in the August LaPlace shootings. The race will take place at St. John Community Center Park on 2900 U.S. Highway 51 in LaPlace.
The benefit run will begin with a one-mile run/walk at 8:30 a.m on Sunday, Jan. 13. A 5k run will begin shortly after at 9 a.m. Food, soft drinks and music will be provided for all participants. In addition, pre-registered entrants will be given a “Fallen 4 Run” commemorative T-shirt. Entrants who register the day of the event can pick up their shirts at a later date. Both the start and finish line will be at the community center.
The non-refundable entry fee for both races in the “Fallen 4 Run” is $25. All checks should be made payable to Louisiana FCU Fallen 4. Participants may register in person at St. John Sheriff’s Office or mail their entry form to Fallen 4 Run, c/o St. John Sheriff’s Office, P.O. Box 1600, LaPlace, LA 70069.
