RESERVE — Riverside’s girls soccer team is looking to turn things around after falling in a trio of matches last week.

The Rebels fell 5-2 to Lutcher Wednesday, 4-0 to Catholic-New Iberia Friday and 1-0 to Parkview Baptist on Saturday.

“We’ve kind of been in a little rut,” said Riverside coach Brittany St. Pierre. “I did see a vast improvement on Saturday. They scored in the last five minutes on a defensive error for the only goal.

“It puts us in a position where we just have to refocus. I think we’ve started that process, and now we just have to rebound strong.”

Mary Gurley and Jordan Duhon scored the goals for Riverside (9-7) on Wednesday.

St. Pierre said that Lutcher’s speed presented problems, allowing the Bulldogs to get out in front.

“They’re obviously very fast up front,” said St. Pierre. “They just took advantage of that speed. In the second half, we made adjustments and played better, but we couldn’t close the gap.”

Riverside will travel to Redemptorist Saturday.
