A ribbon cutting ceremony was recently held for Petra Restaurant and Lounge located at 1036 W. Airline Highway, LaPlace.
Petra, meaning stone is owned and operated by two brothers, TJ and Jameel Qutob, who are from Jordan. The capitol city of Jordan, Petra, was the inspiration behind the name and theme at Petra Restaurant and Lounge.
The Qutob’s started their culinary journey in the New Orleans region with the original Petra in Metairie, opened in 1994. In 2010, the Qutob’s brought their style of cooking to LaPlace inside of the site of the former Bull’s Corner. After two years of operating under the name of the original restaurant at that location, the Qutob’s decided to bring Petra to LaPlace.
In addition to the restaurant in LaPlace, the Qutob’s also own and operate
Maple Street Café located in uptown New Orleans.
