LAPLACE – Now with two games under his belt, interim Saints coach Joe Vitt has a .500 record, winning pretty convincingly over the Philadelphia Eagles Monday after a miserable showing in Denver the previous week.

With Vitt’s return following his suspension, L’Observateur recently asked visitors to its website how they thought the Saints would fare under Vitt’s leadership.

Nearly 70 percent of those who responded thought the team would right the ship somewhat under Vitt’s leadership, even if playoff hopes for this season are all but dashed.

A full breakdown of results follows:

• 43.1 percent chose “The record will be respectable but not enough for the playoffs.”

• 26.2 percent chose “Vitt will turn things around and produce a winning season.”

• 13.8 percent chose “Vitt will be lucky to get even one win.”

• 16.9 percent chose “The team may get one or two more wins.”
