LAPLACE – The LaPlace Walgreens store will host a free Halloween-themed community event Tuesday evening in the Cambridge subdivision.

The “Halloween Fun” event is from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Cambridge Park, 601 Colony Park Drive. The event will feature free jambalaya, hot dogs and drinks, along with candy bags for children. The evening will include a spacewalk and fire trucks and representatives from the St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office will be on hand to offer finger printing for child safety. Free flu shots will also be offered through Walgreens.

St. John Parish Councilman Larry Snyder, who represents the Cambridge Park region in District 6, said the goal of the event is to unite the community and encourage residents to live a happy and healthy life. Residents are reminded to bring a lawn chair and/or blanket, along with mosquito spray to enjoy the evening at the park.

“I would like to extend my appreciation to Walgreens and Ms. Pamela Bates for their efforts in healing our community,” Snyder said. “Many of our residents have suffered greatly as a result of Hurricane Isaac and community activities like this one can and will help with the healing process.”
