LAPLACE – The calendar will say that the fall season technically began late last month, but the temperatures lately tell a different tale. That’s all set to change this weekend as a front is expected to bring cooler, less humid temperatures to the region.

As the season slowly starts to change, L’Observateur asked visitors to its website to tell us some of their favorite fall activities, and most were just content with a change in temperature. More than 60 percent said they just enjoy the cooler weather that fall brings.

Another 25 percent said their favorite activity involves watching the plethora of sports happening this time of year, but the lion’s share of that are opting for football over the Major League Baseball postseason play.

There were only a few residents who said they favored attending the assorted fall festivals that pop up in the region in the fall.

A complete breakdown of results is as follows:

• 21 percent of respondents said, “watching high school, college or pro football.”

• 6 percent of respondents said, “attending fall fairs and festivals.”

• 63 percent of respondents said, “just enjoying the cooler weather.”

• 5 percent of respondents said, “watching postseason major league baseball.”

• 5 percent of respondents said, “the start of holiday activities.”
