HAHNVILLE – St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s detectives are investigating an armed robbery in Destrehan Saturday after a man reported he was robbed at gunpoint outside a Popeye’s restaurant.
The victim, a 30-year-old New Orleans man, told deputies he was emptying garbage cans outside the Popeye’s Restaurant on Longview Drive in Destrehan just after 7:30 a.m. when an unidentified man with a partially covered face jumped out from behind the dumpster. Authorities said the suspect pointed his right hand, which was wrapped in a white cloth as if to imply he had a weapon, at the employee and demanded money.
The victim complied and the suspect immediately fled the scene in an unknown direction. Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to call St. Charles Sheriff’s Office Detective Baird at 985-783-1135 or 985-783-6807.
