CASA raffle

The Child Advocacy Services has unveiled the fourth playhouse design from Holly and Smith Architects – complete with a slide, catwalk and steering wheel, a writing wall and ladder to the second story.

Two playhouses will be built from Dufreche and Morvant’s design, and both will be raffled, along with a beach trip to Destin, Fla., during CASA’s annual fundraising event. Tickets are being sold, and the drawing will take place in the middle of November.

Raffle tickets are $10 each, Bliss said. To help build excitement for Cottages, the second annual Sundresses and Shrimp Boots event will be held today, at Frenier Landing in LaPlace. The tickets to Sundresses and Shrimp Boots are $35 per ticket.

Sponsorships for the Cottages for CASA program are still available and range from $1,000 to $250, Bliss said.

For more information on the Cottages program, tickets or sponsorship opportunities, call CAS at 1-800-798-1575 or visit www.childadv.net.

Craft fair

St. Charles United Methodist Church Craft Fair is Oct. 13, 9 a.m.–4 p.m. at 1905 Ormond Blvd., Destrehan. People are starting to sign up, but they still are in need of crafters. Booths are $35 for a single and $60 for a double and can be reserved for indoors or outdoors. UMW will be doing the concessions so you will want to remember to stop for some lunch that day too. Come out and shop for Christmas, buy a pumpkin for fall and have some good food.

St. James Girl Scouts

Girl Scouts in St. James Parish are holding a recruitment event on Tuesday, Oct.16, 6–7 p.m. at the First Community Antioch Baptist Church, 10860 Highway 3125 in Lutcher, to invite more girls to join Girl Scouting. The event is an opportunity for families to learn more about the Girl Scout Leadership Experience and to register their daughters in Girl Scouts, as well as for adults who are interested in volunteering with Girl Scouts. Free refreshments will be provided.
