LAPLACE — River Parishes Hospital and United Blood Services are hosting a community blood drive today from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Medical Pavilion at 502 Rue de Santé, Suite 309B, LaPlace.

People 16 and older who weigh at least 110 pounds and are in good health can donate. There is no age limit, and all blood pressure medications and anti-depressants are accepted.

Donors must provide a picture identification card to donate. Parental/guardian permission is required for donors age 16.

All donors may choose to receive blood assurance coverage for their family or join the Hero Reward Club in which donors can redeem their blood bank points for prizes. Additionally, all donors will receive a special gift.

Participants can sign up for a donation time by going to www.bloodhero.com and entering sponsor code RPH or contact River Parishes Hospital at 985-653-1644. Walk-ins are also welcome. Employees are encouraged to schedule an appointment time if at all possible, as this will provide faster service. One pint of blood can save three lives.
