Roy Lee Mohon, Sr., 84, died Monday, June 25. He was a native of Crystal Springs, Miss., and a resident of Lutcher and Paulina since 1959.
He was the beloved husband of 56 years to Anne Labella Mohon; loving father to Roy Jr. (Elise), Stephen (Janine), Paul (April), David (Anne), Bruce (Julie), Karla Millet (Ronnie) and Lisa Millet (Earl); much adored PawPaw to Chris, Michael (Brigitte), Stephen, Jr., Brandi LeBoeuf (Tommy), Christin, Kelli, Marci, Kaitlyn, Brandon, Cole, Victoria, Sean, Olivia, Heath, Grace, Molly, Dylan, Emma and Cameron.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Norris & Maggie Dell Mohon; and siblings, Joseph Norris Jr., Harold, and Wade Mohon.
He served in the United States Army in the Korean War, was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Veterans of Foreign Wars, a lifetime member of the Lutcher Volunteer Fire Department, and a longtime Administrator of St. James Parish Hospital. He dedicated almost 20 years to the Boy Scouts of America, serving as Scoutmaster of Troop 151.
He leaves a legacy of love, strength and commitment to his family and friends. He was a dedicated and loving father and friend to many and he will be deeply missed by all who were touched by his love, kindness and laughter.
The family extends a very special thank you to lifetime friends Roy “Fatty” and Marie Kliebert, who are considered family to all of us, for all of their unending support. The family would also like to thank the staff of St. James Parish Hospital for their wonderful care and compassion for our husband and father, and thank you to his caregiver, Brian Duhe.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend visitation Thursday, June 28, at Rose Lynn Funeral Home, 1870 Cabanose Ave., Lutcher, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., and Friday, June 29 from 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Paulina, Burial will be in the church cemetery. ROSE LYNN FUNERAL SERVICES is in charge of the arrangements. Knights of Columbus members will lead a rosary Thursday at 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
