LARAYO moved to 3-0 Monday night as it went on the road to Sun Villa and came away with a 390-155 victory.

LARAYO led 73-35 after the freestyle event and continued to build its lead from there, peaking with a score of 86 in the backstroke.

Leading the way for LARAYO were Kaile Levatino, Cody Schafer and Will East, each of whom won three events.

Two-time winners included Matthew Schexnayder, Joshua Tamplain, Abby Schiff, Kelly Campbell, Alex East, Paige Williams, Austin Matherne and Maggie Trepagnier.

Rounding out the event winners for the Barracudas were Carter Cortez, Noelle Remondet, Drew Schafer, Rylee Schexnayder, Ben Schiff, Jordan Jensen, Jayce Tamplain, Jared Babish, Kelsie Williams, Luke Jackson and Ben East, who each won an event.

LARAYO coach Michelle Jensen said that she’s encouraged by the way her older swimmers are responding to a heavy workload as the season goes on, as swimming is just one of many activities that a number of them are balancing.

“I was happy with how we performed,” said LARAYO coach Michelle Jensen. “The thing we’re seeing now is that when you get to the older age groups, the kids who are in high school, it’s difficult for them to be able to put in the time with high school sports and summer ball.

“They’re very, very busy. But at this point, they seem to understand that it’s the time to step it up a notch and get into the pool a little more.”
