Noted alumni speaks at WSJH honor roll banquet

RESERVE – Dr. Janel Bailey Wheeler, director of the Community Pharmacy Residence Program at Xavier University and a clinical assistant professor at the university’s College of Pharmacy, was the guest speaker at this year’s annual West St. John Honor Roll Banquet.
Wheeler, a graduate of West St. John High, encouraged the students to “focus on their goals” as they continue to their academic endeavors.
Wheeler is also a St. John the Baptist Parish Public School System’s Hall of Fame inductee.
Seventy-three high school students and 89 elementary students, along with their parents, were honored at the banquet, which is sponsored by the West St. John Civic Association. Student achieving a 3.0 GPA or better were presented with medals,
while the graduating seniors were given an Honor Shawl to be worn during their graduation ceremony.
West St. John High Principal Erica Merrick and West St. John Elementary Principal Sebrina Duke, along with civic association members, presented the awards. Entertainment was provided by Deja Feist.
