LAPLACE – Two LaPlace residents asleep inside their home were awoken by a pair of male intruders, who robbed the house at gunpoint Sunday morning, according to St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office investigators.

Deputies were called to a home in the 100 block of Shadow Brook Lane in LaPlace just before 5 a.m. Sunday and met with the victim, who said he and a friend were sleeping inside the home when the intruders, wearing hooded sweatshirts, entered, said Dane Clement, spokesman for the Sheriff’s Office. Clement said there were no signs of forced entry to the home, and one of the men was armed with an unknown type of long gun.

Clement said the two victims were ordered to lie face down on the kitchen floor as the burglars gathered items from the residence. He said the victims were not restrained and were not injured in the incident.

The victims reported a television, a game system, two cell phones, and an iPod were stolen from the home. One of the victims called police after the intruders left.

Anyone with information regarding the burglary is asked to call St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office detectives at 985-359-8769.
