Dance Unlimited wins ultimate achievement

LaPlace – Dance Unlimited of the River Parishes started their competition season in Mobile, Ala. and finished in Chalmette, with unbelievable success.

“It was a year we only could have imagined,” owner Duanne Cazalot said. “We placed 69 times in the Over All High Score Rankings, winning 19 first place Over All High Score of the Day Awards and even the Ultimate Achievement Award for the Highest Score of the Competition.”

They started this season off at Star Systems Talent Competition held in Mobile, Ala. After competing against over 463 entries, Dance Unlimited received 12 gold awards, 30 high gold awards and six platinum awards, winning 34 first place category awards. They finished 37 times in the over all high score rankings with eight of them being the first place over all.

“Dance” a hip hop routine was named the Ultimate Achievement Award Winner. This is the third consecutive year Dance Unlimited has won this award.

Overall Top Model rankings were first MaCoi Hollins, second Alexis Keys, third Claire Girardot, fourth Monae Gordon, fifth Camille Landeche, sixth Madison St. Pierre and seventh Skyla Rae Lewis.

Mini Top Solos were fifth Meredith Black, fourth Julia Haslauer and second Emma Boudreaux.

Junior Top Solos were first MaCoi Hollins, fourth Haley Verbois, eighth Claire Girardota and ninth Skyla Rae Lewis.

Advanced Level Junior – fifth Mikayla Meyer and 10th Amber Oubre.

Teen Top Solos – fourth Ali Workman, seventh Aliyah Pierre; Advanced Teen – fourth place Gabrielle House.

Senior Top Solos were first Destiny Ponville and fourth Katelyn Carcich.

Junior Duet/Trios – first “Girls Want To Have Fun” featuring Hannah Brignac and Claire Girardot, second “Dream” featuring Haley Verbois and Skyla Rae Lewis.

Teen Duet/Trios – second “Koladi Ola” featuring Jenna Bordelon and Lundyn Cantillo, third “Heartbreaker” featuring Jenna Bordelon, Lundyn Cantillo and Caitlyn Champagne.

Senior Duet/Trio – first “Discotech” featuring Destiny Ponville and Katelyn Carcich.

Junior Groups – second “Wikked Little Girls,” third “Crocodile Rock,” Teen Small Groups – first “Love Is You,” second “Move,” Teen Large Groups – first “Vanguardian,” Teen Line and Ultimate Achievement Winner – “Dance.”

Chalmette Civic Center was the location for Dancers, Inc. where Dance Unlimited completed this season with great success. After 14 hours of competing against 330 routines, Dance Unlimited won six elite awards, 20 high gold awards, 29 gold awards and eight high silver awards.  They placed 32 times in the over all-high score rankings winning first place over all 11 times. They also received six Special Judge Awards including – The Technique Award to Aliyah Pierre; Cute as a Button Award to “Spiders” a group of five-year-olds. The

Sassy Award to Madison St. Pierre and the Super Style Award to MaCoi Hollins. Next Top Model, Petite Division went to Monae Gordon and the Next Top Model – Junior Division went to MaCoi Hollins.  

Over All Top Solo Placements – Petite Division– first Emma Boudreaux for “I’m Cute,” second Julia Haslauer for “I like to Fuss,” third Emma Boudreaux for “Maybe.”

Junior Top Solos – first MaCoi Hollins for “Something’s Got A Hold On Me,” fourth Katie Milligan for “Living Proof,” fifth Katie Milligan for “Rock God,” sixth Lauren Watson for “Sail,” seventh to Claire Girardot for “Break Away,” ninth Skyla Rae Lewis for “Walking on Sunshine” and 10th Michelle Phillips for “Looking Good, Feeling Gorgeous.” In the Junior Advanced Division – fourth Mikayla Meyer for “Cat on a Hot Tin Roof,” eighth Mikayla Meyer for “Don’t Rain on my Parade.”  

Teen Top Solo – second Aliyah Pierre for “Game On,” third Aliyah Pierre for “Ain’t Nothing Wrong With That.”

Senior Top Solos – first Destiny Ponville for “Hello,” second Destiny Ponville for “Tainted Love,” third Katelyn Carcich for “Love Song.”

Top Duet/Trio Junior – first “Pop Drop & Roll” featuring Haley Verbois, Amber Oubre and Claire Girardot, second “Girls wanna have Fun” featuring Hannah Brignac and Claire Girardot, third “Dream” featuring Haley Verbois and Skyla Rae Lewis.  

Duet/Trio Teen – first “Show Me How To Burlesque” featuring Sabrina Deleon and Maria Rodriguez.

Advanced Teen –
