Associated Terminals, operating on the Lower Mississippi River, has expanded its midstream stevedoring fleet with its seventh Gottwald floating crane, the “Talley-Perez”. The new Model 8 crane commenced operations in April 2012 and is one of the largest and highest capacity floating cranes on the Lower Mississippi River. Currently, six additional Gottwald floating cranes operate in Associated’s fleet.
Associated’s midstream operations are located between mile markers 56 and 141 on the Lower Mississippi River. The company’s nine floating cranes are used for the transloading of bulk and general cargoes. Primary commodities handled include ores, coal, alloys, minerals and fertilizers, which are transferred between ocean vessels and inland river barges at Associated’s 11 midstream anchorages, as well as at additional terminal and dockside locations.
