LAPLACE – Elections for Louisiana’s congressional district-level delegates to the Democratic National Convention in September will be held today at polling places across the state and across the River Parishes.

All registered Democrats have the opportunity to vote for the people they’d like to have represent them as delegates to the convention in Charlotte, N.C., where President Barack Obama will likely be nominated for a second term. Those living in the River Parishes who wish to vote must vote in locations with the 3rd Congressional District under the old congressional map. There are six locations spread across St. John the Baptist, St. James and St. Charles parishes.

The elections are not at usual voting locations, so check the list below for the closest polling location. There are 42 delegate positions at stake on Saturday. For a list of the candidates in the 3rd Congressional District visit http://lademo.org. Polls will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The polling locations for the 3rd Congressional District are as follows:

• St. John the Baptist Parish: 944 Cambridge Drive, LaPlace; CRS Snowball Restaurant, 110 Karl Stein Road, Wallace

• St. James Parish: Offices of Paul Aucoin, 134 Goodwill Plantation Road, Vacherie; Union Hall (across from the VFW), 1395 Third St., Lutcher
