John Mitchell Crum Jr., 66, born July 7, 1945, passed away Wednesday, May 2, 2012, after a brief illness. He was a resident of LaPlace and former resident of Thibodaux.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia “Pat” Peltier Crum; children: John H. “Jay” Crum, Meredith Crum and Rachel Crum; siblings: Joanne Crum and James “Jim” Crum (Linda); mother-in-law, Mrs. Harvey “Mickey” Peltier Jr.; brother-in-law, Harvey “Drew” Peltier III (Linda); sister-in-law, Mary Ellen Peltier; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John M. Crum Sr. and Jerry Hughes Crum.
He was a devoted husband and father who enjoyed life to the fullest. He was a 1963 graduate of Thibodaux High School. He was also a graduate of LSU and LSU Law School. He was also a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity. He was a retired district attorney and was the first District Attorney of the 40th Judicial District of St. John the Baptist Parish, where he served as DA from 1983 until 2009. Prior to becoming a district attorney, he worked as chief assistant for the 29th District in St. Charles Parish.
Visitation will be held today at Thibodaux Funeral Home, 104 St. Patrick Highway, Thibodaux, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. A religious service will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22178, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718.
