ST. ROSE – A fundraiser that was scheduled to take place Saturday at St. Rose Driving Range has been rescheduled for this weekend.

“Golf Balls From Heaven,” a benefit for Mother’s House of Change women’s rehabilitation center, has been moved to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 28. It was originally scheduled for April 21, but inclement weather conditions grounded the helicopter from which the balls are to be dropped.

A celebration of sorts was still held at the driving range, located on Airline Highway in St. Rose, with live music and plenty of food to be had, but the main event along with the long-drive competition had to be postponed for a week.

The fundraiser involves people purchasing numbered golf balls, which will then be loaded onto a helicopter and dropped from the sky. The ball making it closest to the hole will win its purchaser $5,000. Additionally, all balls in the top 10 will win prizes.

So anyone interested in joining the fun still has a few days to purchase golf balls and try their luck.

Call 504-469-1272 or visit www.mothers houseofchange.org for more information or to purchase golf balls.

The golf ball drop will be held Saturday, April 28, at 2 p.m. at the St. Rose Driving Range, 10362 Airline Highway, St. Rose, and will also feature live music, food and other games.
